Our Vision & Mission
Guiding our parish family towards deeper faith, worship, love, and service in Andheri East.
Sacred Heart Church, Andheri
Archdiocese of Bombay • Society of the Divine Word (SVD)“Vibrant with the Spirit of the Risen Lord towards a community of deeper faith, worship, love and service.”
“We strive to live our Vision in our families, in our parish and in our neighbourhood through our following mission.”
Our Three Pastoral Objectives
Living the Gospel through family life, parish ministry, and civic society
In Our Families (The Domestic Church)
To create an abundance of life, we desire that each of our families be a domestic church by living family values.
We do this by:
- Spending quality time together: Being together and praying together as a family.
- Mutual Respect: Respecting each one as a person, especially honoring women in our families.
- Pastoral Care: Paying special attention to our youth and senior citizens.
The Role of the Family Cell
The Family Cell helps form this domestic church through workshops, seminars, and enrichment programs:
The Family Cell promotes pro-life ministries and empowers youth with responsibility. Every family participates at the parish level by having at least one member active in parish-related ministries.
In Our Parish (Faith Formation & Service)
We nurture this abundance of life through faith formation and service-oriented leadership.
We do this through:
- Word of God: Bible study and its practical application in daily life.
- Active Worship: Creative, reverent, and active participation in the Sacred Liturgy.
- Youth Accompaniment: Spiritual direction, mentoring, and pastoral care for young people.
- Pastoral Outreach: Reaching out with compassion to those who are drifting away from the Catholic Church.
- Formed Leadership: Training Animators with a clear spiritual vision who lead exemplary Christian lives.
Lay Participation & SCC Social Care
We foster laity involvement in pastoral administration, tap talents, promote voluntary service, and recognize parishioners sharing their expertise and valuable time.
Our Small Christian Communities (SCCs) ensure the poor and marginalized are cared for in every neighborhood. We support dedicated parish cells for Counseling, Legal Aid, Healthcare, ALMs, Women in Crisis, Civic Welfare, Justice & Peace, and Senior Citizens.
In Our Neighbourhood (Building a Just & Humane Society)
This abundance of life overflows into our building a just, fraternal, and more humane society.
We do this by:
- Civic Responsibility: Actively participating in the civic, political, and democratic life of our country.
- Care for the Needy: Channelizing parish funds and resources towards the poor, the sick, and the marginalized.
- Communal Dialogue: Fostering respectful interaction, dialogue, and goodwill with people of other religions and communities.
- Social Welfare: Constructive involvement in community welfare problems and public development works.
Grassroots Action & Cultural Heritage
SCC Animators bring these civic and justice endeavors directly to the grassroots level. We encourage strong ethical leadership, appreciate and celebrate our rich Indian culture, partner constructively with civic organizations, create awareness in small communities, and organize inter-communal prayer gatherings for peace and harmony.
